NATIONAL JUNIOR TENNIS LEAGUE OF THE COACHELLA VALLEY (N.J.T.L.)
The National Junior Tennis League (N.J.T.L.) was founded by Arthur Ashe, Charlie Pasarell and Sheridan Snyder in 1969 for the purpose of reaching out to underprivileged youth through recreational programs and to assist in providing a strong foundation of positive attributes such as sportsmanship, self-esteem and respect. Through tennis, the organization reaches out to those who may not otherwise have the opportunity to learn to play tennis, instills in youngsters the values of humanitarianism, leadership and academic excellence and gives them the opportunity to develop skills they can enjoy for a lifetime. This nationwide program has grown to over 950 chapters and programs servicing approximately 275,000 children under the structure of the USTA (United States Tennis Association).
The Coachella Chapter is a not-for-profit organization that continues growing the sport of tennis at the grass roots level and beyond by providing in and out of school programs to children between the ages of 5-18 years. Racquets, balls, locations, instructors, and special events are provided at no cost to the children of the Coachella Valley. 100% of the funds donated are directed to the N.J.T.L. programs.
